Mindfort was created by Riordan Maynard from his lived experiences at both extremes – significant business success, catastrophic failure, imprisonment, and rebuilding from the ground up.
Riordan left school at 16 and began his career in London property before moving into sales and then business. In 1992, with just £5,000 and operating from a small apartment in Wapping, he co-founded Touchbase. Over the next twenty-five years, the business grew into an international technology services company with offices across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, serving organisations including Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, American Express and Nestlé.
Touchbase became known for its high performance teams, exceptional client relationships and an obsessive focus on people, culture and outcomes. But after the global financial crisis created severe business pressures, the company collapsed. Riordan was convicted on tax related charges connected to the company’s financial difficulties and sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison in the United States.
Prison changed everything.
It stripped life back to its fundamentals – routine, discipline, physical training, mindset and meaning. During those years, Riordan read over 450 books, immersing himself in the works of Viktor Frankl, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Marcus Aurelius, Tony Robbins and many others. From this learning and endless trial and error, Riordan developed a simple and practical system for building mental resilience, maintaining purpose and learning to love the life you live, even under extreme pressure.
Frankl’s belief that “he who has a why can bear almost any how” became foundational to his thinking and is at the core of the programme.
Mindfort is the result.
The programme combines a set of initial exercises and ongoing practices to help people clarify what they truly want, understand what is mentally getting in their way, and build the habits and mindset needed to create meaningful progress in life and work.
Today, Riordan works with individuals and organisations to help them build greater resilience, engagement, performance and fulfilment. The work is practical, direct and deeply transformational.
At its core, Mindfort is about helping people stop wishing for something else and start loving the life they live.
